White House on lockdown: Man in custody for ‘suspicious package.’

The Secret Service ordered the White House on lockdown for around forty-five minutes Tuesday due to a suspicious package.

Places around the White House were closed off, & staff & media members were prevented from accessing the complex. Other members of the public were evacuated out of Lafayette Park over from the North Lawn.

The lockdown was lifted now after 11:30 AM.

An agency spokesperson said, reporters, the incident started when a man holding a package neared a uniformed officer at 15th Street & Pennsylvania Ave. At 10:15 a.m. & did suspicious comments.The man was next brought into charge by the Secret Service.

Explosive units searched the area, but the spokesperson did not tell what, if any, they found. East Wing tours were suspended in reply to the occurrence.

The lockdown begins after a series of safety breaches that have asked new inquiries about the agency’s capacity to guard the White House grounds.

A man beginning this month purportedly jumped the fence beginning this month & spent around fifteen minutes on the White House grounds since being apprehended.

“The service did a fantastic job last night,” Trump said reporters a day later, continuing that “it was a troubled person.”
